An active search is underway for a 66-year-old Michigan woman who disappeared from a popular tourist hot spot during a trip to the Grand Canyon more than a week ago, officials said.

Martha Overholser was last seen Dec. 10 at Mather Point on the Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim in Arizona when she failed to return on a commercial bus tour, according to the National Park Service.

Authorities believe that she walked west from Mather Point, a popular lookout, toward Bright Angel Lodge or Hermits Rest, the most western point of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

The search has been ongoing for 11 days.

The Sault Ste. Marie resident is described as a 5'2'' white woman weighing 110 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes, the park service said.

She was last seen wearing a long, off-white coat and a gray hooded sweatshirt and was carrying a navy blue bag.

Officials encouraged anyone who may have seen Overholser to contact the NPS ISB tip line at (888) 653-0009.
