Patriots director of skill development leaving team after seven seasons

After another 4-13 season, their second in a row, the New England Patriots are turning over their coaching staff once again.

New England fired head coach Jerod Mayo following the team's 23-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills in their regular-season finale which dropped the team from the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft to the fourth.

Patriots defensive coaching assistant Keith Jones Jr. has also already departed, accepting a job at Appalachian State.

Now, another member of the coaching staff is on the move, as ESPN's Mike Reiss reported that director of ill development Joe Kim is departing.

Kim joined the Patriots in 2018 after working with 10 other teams in the NFL, starting with Bill Belichick and the Cleveland Browns in the 1992 season.

While his focus has been on the pass rush, New England struggled to get after opposing quarterbacks in 2024 and finished with just 28 sacks on the year (32nd in the league).
