MENAN - After nearly a decade of bringing buyers and sellers together through the Thrifty Nickel, Justin and Shelly Fullmer are the owners of a new printing business.

The Menan couple closed the advertising publication in September and opened Innovation Ink. With the help of a machine with ultrasonic sensors called The Wall Printer, the Fullmers can print full-color logos and pictures on billboards, signs, walls, or any flat surface. The business launched in September and is just getting started. They've picked up a few clients in the last month and are hoping to acquire more.

"We're just getting the word out now. I've gotten a few jobs. I'm doing one for Romaine's tomorrow (Thursday)," Justin tells EastIdahoNews.com.

The Fullmers originally launched the business in hopes of supplementing their income with the Thrifty Nickel. The economy forced them to close the Thrifty Nickel in September.

The publication launched in 1978. Shelly started working there in 1995, and she and her husband bought it in 2015.

Despite dwindling readers for the print publication, the website was still getting 70,000 clicks a week. The Fullmers shut it down as well because they were ready to focus all their creative energy on one thing.

They've retained several graphic designers from the previous business for this new venture, which the Fullmers are thrilled about.

"We had some absolutely fantastic graphic designers, and I really wanted to keep them employed," Justin says. "I was browsing the internet one day and an ad for this (machine) popped up. It said, 'Start your own business today,' and I thought, 'Who doesn't have something to print?'"

Just last week, the couple made a delivery to a customer in Burley.

They cater primarily to business owners, but they'll print something for anyone who wants it. Many people repaint rooms in their house and Justin says their machine makes it easier to do wall art.

REXBURG - WaFd Bank at 80 North 2nd East in Rexburg is hosting its third annual blanket drive.

The event kicked off Nov. 4 and runs through Dec. 10.

The community is invited to bring new blankets into the Rexburg branch to give to the Rexburg Family Crisis Center.

Blankets can be donated Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
