APPLETON (WLUK) -- Outagamie County will be suspending their Emergency Management Department's audible Saturday outdoor warning system test until March 2025.
The new schedule was implemented on Tuesday. The county said in a statement the change is to reduce maintenance costs related to expected seasonal snow and ice. While the audible test will be suspended, silent tests will continue throughout the winter.
Sirens are for outdoor warning only and aren't intended to be heard inside homes or businesses. Outagamie County recommends residents use NOAA radios or their local weather app for severe weather alerts.
