Amid 'Panjab' Controversy, Diljit Dosanjh Announces Upcoming Concert; Says Nothing Can Stop His Shows

Recently, Diljit Dosanjh found himself entangled in a 'Panjab' spelling row after making an announcement for his concert in Chandigarh. This led to some claiming that he has been using the spelling of the neighbouring country, Pakistan, thereby hurting national sentiments. Now, in a recent post, the Punjabi superstar not only affirmed his love for India, but also made it clear that nothing will come in the way of his shows.

Dosanjh took to Instagram, posting another reel as an announcement for one of his forthcoming concerts. As part of the Dil-Luminati Tour, he is set to perform in Mumbai. In the clip, Dosanjh was seen singing and dancing inside a private jet with his team, which ended with a sneak peek at their current stop - Mumbai.

"Tomorrow Mumbai. Mahalakshmi Race Course. SHUT DOWN SHUT DOWN KARA DEYA GE TU DEKH SAHI (You wanted to shut down, you just see). DIL-LUMINATI TOUR Year 24," read the caption alongside his video posted on 18 December.

Coming to Dosanjh's 'Panjab' spelling controversy, he had dropped an announcement about his show in Chandigarh using the former spelling of the state, instead of 'Punjab.' This hurt many netizens' sentiments, who claimed that the 'Panjab' is used majorly in Pakistan. Soon, Dosanjh took to X, addressing the "conspiracy" alleged against him. He penned a long note talking about how English is a very tricky language.

He wrote, "ਪੰਜਾਬ 🇮🇳 Kisi ek Tweet Mai Agar ਪੰਜਾਬ ke Saath 🇮🇳 Flag Mention Reh Gaya Toh Conspiracy. BENGALURU ke Tweet Mai bhi Ek Jagha Reh Gaya Thaa Mention Karna.. Agar ਪੰਜਾਬ Ko PANJAB Likha toh Conspiracy (Punjabi. If I mistakenly didn't put up India's flag after writing 'Panjab' in a tweet, then it becomes a conspiracy. In a tweet from Bengaluru, I forgot to mention the Indian flag after writing 'Panjab', it became a conspiracy)."

He then added, "PANJAB Ko Chaye PUNJAB likho... ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੰਜਾਬ Hee Rehna. Panj Aab - 5 Rivers. Goreya di Language English De Spellings Te Conspiracy Karn Waleya Shaabash. Main Tan Future ch ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ch Likheya Karna ਪੰਜਾਬ Tusi Ni Hatna Mainu Pata.. Laggey Raho. Kini Vaar Prove Kariye that We LOVE INDIA 🇮🇳 KOI NAVI GAL KARO YAAR, YAAN TUANU TASK HEE EH MILEYA? #Vehley (If you write 'Panjab' instead of 'Punjab', it will remain 'Punjab'. Panj Aab - 5 Rivers. Bravo, those who create conspiracy around the usage of a language of the Englishmen. You know what, I will write 'Panjab'. How many times do we prove that we LOVE INDIA? Bring something new, or is creating conspiracy is what you get paid for? #Vehley)."

Before this, Dosanjh had stated that he would hold live shows in India only when the concert infrastructure improves. Several clips of him discussing the need for better infrastructure went viral on social media. In one of the viral clips, he shared, "Here, we don't have infrastructure for live shows. This is a source of big revenue, many people get work and are able to work here. I'll try next time that the stage is at the centre so that you can be around it. Till this happens, I won't do shows in India."
