THE Texas Longhorns have made a major decision on whether to bench Arch Manning.
The nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli has been taking the reps for the NCAA Division 1 team.
They have been without their superstar quarterback Quinn Ewers through injury in recent weeks.
But the 21-year-old looks to have recovered, and that is set to spell the end of Manning.
Ewers went down against UTSA, and his backup came in to take charge of the offense.
That was on September 14, with the Longhorns going on to a thumping 56-7 victory.
Manning has been at quarterback since, and kept his team undefeated and ranked in the top five of college football.
But Ewers practiced with the starting offensive core on Tuesday.
He is now set to start at QB against the Oklahoma Sooners on October 12.
Anwar Richardson of Orangeblood reported the surprise news on social media site X.
"According to multiple sources, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers participated in practice on Tuesday and received the first-team reps," he said.
"I was told, 'Quinn is playing (against Oklahoma).
"No way he misses this game or the rest of the season.
"He wants to win the SEC and a Natty."
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian also opened up on the starting quarterback situation.
"We need Quinn back, he's our quarterback and he's our leader," he said.
"I think that impacts the entire team and belief.
"I think what we learned, and what Arch earned here over the last two and a half games, is this team can count on him too.
"There's not a lot of teams in the country that can think 'whichever guys in there, we can go win, and play good football'.
"We don't ask our quarterbacks to do more than what they're capable of doing.
"Those guys are both capable of a lot. They're both very talented players.
"They're really good leaders, they inspire people around them to play even better.
"When we get Quinn back, we're all going to be excited for that.
"We also know, what a luxury we do have, and invaluable experience Arch got over the last two and a half games.
"Hopefully Quinn can get back for OU, we'll see, another two weeks, and get him close to, if not 100 per cent healthy and ready to go."
