That sure was a big win by the Seahawks on Sunday, huh? Ended a losing streak to the 49ers. Put them back in the NFC West race. Snapped a bad stretch with a big road win.
That sure must have impressed the NFL power-ranking industry, right?
Well, sort of.
Most of the NFL power rankers moved the Seahawks up a few spots, but generally they're average ranking is 16 (and still behind the 49ers in most rankings).
Here's what they had to say:

At the very least, [the preseason hot seat] it's cooling after Geno Smith led another game-winning drive Sunday to end a streak of six consecutive losses to the 49ers. Smith isn't playing well enough to make it a sure thing he'll get a new contract this offseason to secure his long-term future in Seattle. But he's faring about as well as can be expected for a quarterback with a struggling offensive line and poor run game.

Who knows if the Seahawks can somehow find a way into the postseason dance? Right now, they're a real longshot and still need a lot to happen down the stretch (which, for them, features a tough slate of opponents) to get there. Still, Sunday's win at San Francisco was a true statement of mental and physical toughness -- and it dealt a huge blow to the rival 49ers' chances.

That might have been a season-saving victory against the 49ers. The defense showed big improvement coming off the bye.

So this is why the Seahawks hired Mike Macdonald. Absent the offensive mind that was going to match wits with Shanahan and McVay, the option was there to get the defensive coach who could slow them down. Macdonald hurled a major curveball at Brock Purdy, blitzing him on 40% of his dropbacks after throwing up these numbers in the preceding weeks: 29.5%, 18%, 15% and 20%.

The Seahawks changed the outlook of their season on Sunday with a win over the 49ers. All of a sudden they're a game back in the NFC West. They still have both games remaining against the Cardinals. That win was enormous for Mike Macdonald's first season as Seattle's head coach.
The Sporting News: 16
The Seahawks are staying tough and gritty with Mike Macdonald, led by a determined defense and Geno Smith. The NFC West race got a whole lot more interesting with their shocker in San Francisco.

Did you know QB Geno Smith holds the franchise's single-season record with 4,282 passing yards in 2022? He's on pace for 4,728 this year.

Geno Smith won't go away, which is a good thing for the Seahawks, who are battling in the competitive NFC West. Despite a rough outing, he found a way to help his team snap a six-game losing streak to San Francisco. Smith's go-ahead rushing touchdown may fuel a Seahawks midseason surge.

The season was about to be put to sleep, until Geno Smith scored the touchdown that caused him to say night-night to the Niners.
