RANE teases update to motorised DJ controller, ONE

RANE has teased a new update to its motorised DJ controller, ONE, at this year's NAMM conference in Anaheim, California.

The product hasn't officially been announced by RANE, or its parent company InMusic, yet, but it was present at the RANE booth at NAMM, and looked much like the finished article. According to Digital DJ Tips -- who spotted the all-white unit at the music gear event -- the MKII features dedicated controls for stem volume, further highlighting the increasing importance of stem separation to DJs.

The three EQ knobs now also double up as volume controls for Vocal, Melody and Drums, so you can isolate certain elements during a mix, or adjust the volumes to highlight one instrument over another. Stems are also available via the performance pads, and a dedicated new pad group on top of each deck to isolate and solo different stems. A new stem FX control also uses the performance pads to only add an effect to a specific stem, like vocal delay.

The other biggest addition when compared to the MKI is the internal effects. The MKII adds 29 internal effects to the ONE, with six dedicated buttons on the mixer. Other more traditional features you might expect include eight performance pads per deck, tension-adjustable mag-four crossfader, motorised jog wheels, newly designed channel faders, and a dedicated sampler volume knob.
