Panthers urged to steal star WR from rival in 2025

Panthers urged to steal star WR from rival in 2025

The Carolina Panthers are looking to finish the 2024 season on a high note. With seven games left and a 3-7 record heading into Week 12, Carolina needs all the momentum they can carry into next year.

The mini two-game win streak they're on has been a nice start, with victories over the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants. The quarterback position is still in question, but Bryce Young has begun to string together solid performances. Whether they decide to run it back with Young or not in 2025 doesn't mean they can't upgrade the weapons.

This is why Bleacher Report predicted that Carolina will sign Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin in 2025.

After trading Diontae Johnson, the Panthers are left without a clear-cut No. 1 receiver. Rookie Xavier Legette has the potential to eventually fill that role, but he isn't there yet. Carolina will need receiver help in 2025, whether it sticks with Young at quarterback or not. Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin would be a logical free-agent target for the Panthers, assuming Canales remains the head coach. Canales coached Godwin in Tampa last season, and he knows exactly how to utilize the 28-year-old (29 in February).

A receiver tandem of Godwin and Legette could potentially be lethal. Given Canales knows how to utilize Godwin from their lone season together in 2023, this would be an ideal fit if the Buccaneers star elects to leave Tampa Bay.
