LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Clear and quiet conditions are expected tonight, with lows dropping into the 30s and 40s.
By Tuesday afternoon, strong southwest winds will help warm temperatures back into the mid-70s to mid-80s -- a few degrees warmer than today.
By Wednesday, breezy to windy conditions will return, increasing the risk of critical fire weather. A Fire Weather Watch has already been issued for most of the viewing area. Strong winds combined with dry air will make it easier for fires to start and spread. Avoid any outdoor burning or activities that could create sparks.
Fire weather becomes even more concerning on Friday as a High Wind event is likely to develop across the South Plains. Winds could become strong enough to create extreme fire conditions, making outdoor fires highly dangerous.
Unfortunately, the windy pattern will continue through the rest of the week, keeping fire danger elevated. Please follow local burn bans and take precautions to prevent any accidental fires.
