Former Michigan Cornerback now Highest Paid Nickel in NFL

Former Michigan Wolverine star cornerback Jourdan Lewis is now the NFL's highest paid nickel cornerback after signing a three year, $30 million dollar deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lewis was a star at Michigan from 2013-2016, and was a two time first team All-American.

Lewis had a great season with the Cowboys in 2024, with 71 tackles (a career high), a sack, eight pass break-ups, and an interception. Lewis has spent the last eight seasons with in Dallas.

Heading into your ninth NFL season as the highest paid nickel cornerback is a huge accomplishment for Lewis. At 5'10, Lewis has been criticized for his height for his entire career. Yet he keeps proving the critics that he's still a high caliber talent.

For most NFL players, the goal is to make it to their second contract. For guys who aren't first-round draft picks, that second contract is where you know you never have to work again. For Lewis to now be on his fourth NFL contract is a huge accomplishment. The four-year deal is also worth more than the previous three contracts combined.

Lewis was a lock-down corner during his Michigan football career. He's also known for his highlight-reel, one-handed interception against Wisconsin in the top-10 matchup between the two teams back in 2016.

Lewis had six interceptions for Michigan football during his career with the Wolverines. He's got 10-career interceptions in the NFL and is now one of the best slot corners in the league.
