Church notes: First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville invites newcomers to informal reception Jan. 21 | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Benton County

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. in Bella Vista, holds services at 10 a.m. each Sunday, during which Kid's Connect is offered, as well as a nursery.

The next installment of the Senior Seminars series will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 20. "Natural Medicines," will be presented by Dr. Donald S. Douglas of Bella Vista. Senior Seminars are held on the third Thursday of every month, with a new presentation each time. The seminars are free and open to the community.

The new Women's Bible Study classes will begin Jan. 28. The group will study "Exodus & Numbers: The Exodus From Egypt" by John MacArthur. The cost of the study book is $10. There will be two classes to choose from: 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. and 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. Classes are open to all ladies in the community.

Men's Bible Fellowship meets every Wednesday at 8 a.m. An evening Men's Bible Fellowship meets on the second and fourth Thursdays at 6 p.m. The study is open to all men in the community.

Prayer Fellowship meets at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday in the chapel. If you have a prayer request, contact the church office at [email protected].

A number of Community Life Groups are available. Contact the church office for details and locations.

On Wednesdays the Bell Choir practices at 4:30 p.m., and choir practice is at 5:30 p.m. Both groups are open to those interested in joining.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry, for anyone who enjoys knitting or crocheting, is looking for folks who enjoy making prayer shawls and squares, baby blankets and hats to minister to others. Yarn is provided.

Ping Pong Group meets from 9 to 10 a.m. each Monday and Thursday in Fellowship Hall.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., holds services at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Sundays. Sunday School for all ages of children is at 9:45 a.m. in the lower level. Adult Bible Class is at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Christianity 101 meets at 9:30 a.m. in the library. The class is led by Pastor Hass. The 10-week course is for those interested in Bella Vista Lutheran Church. It is especially designed to provide the opportunity to ask questions about Christianity, Lutheran theology and discuss mission. The class covers the origins of the Bible, early church history, the Reformation and how this history has influenced what we believe as Lutherans. It will focus on how this history has uniquely positioned our congregation for active outreach missions in the Northwest Arkansas.

GriefShare classes take place 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays in the church library. The support group is for those who have lost a loved one. Contact Diane Turner at 640-1508 for more information.

Adult Choir rehearsals are at 9 a.m. Saturdays in the choir room.

Quilters meet at 8:30 a.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays.

The Youth of Bella Vista Lutheran Church are gathering used ink cartridges of any kind. They can redeem them to help pay for the National Youth Gathering next year. There is a basket next to the door into the kitchen for your donation.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open on Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon to provide food items to those in need in our community.

First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville at 901 N.E. J St. invites all to worship on Sunday mornings in person and online at 10:15 a.m.

Bible study for adults meets at 9 a.m. on Sundays. Handbell rehearsal begins at 11:30 a.m. Choir practice is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Also on Sundays, children's ministry is at 11:30 a.m. and Youth Group at 4 p.m.

The FPC Food Pantry is open Saturdays 9-11 a.m. to Benton County residents, and volunteers are welcome to help on Friday and Saturday mornings.

Newcomers are invited to an informal reception at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 in the church library.

Everyone is welcome to a potluck lunch at 11 a.m. Jan. 23, with a presentation on travel in Australia.

Washington County

Central United Methodist Church, 6 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville, holds worship services at 9 and 11 a.m. in person and live on Facebook, YouTube and the church website.

First United Presbyterian Church, 695 E. Calvin St. offers two services. The 9 a.m. service in the sanctuary is First Worship-Relevant Faith for Everyday Life. The 50-minute service is intentionally designed for both young families and long-time church members.

The traditional 11 a.m. service is in the sanctuary. It is also livestreamed on YouTube and the church website. The nursery will be available in Upper Knox 8:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

All Sunday School classes begin at 10 a.m. Classes for children and youth meet in Lower Knox.

The adult Present Word Bible Study meets in Calvin 201 and on Zoom 2. Their fall curriculum is Worship in the Covenant Community. The adult Thoughtful Christians class meets in the church library and on Zoom 1. Their study is "The Jesus We Missed," by Patrick Henry Reardon.

Young adults are invited to Dinner and Discussion from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 in Calvin 201.

The youth group (grades 5-8) will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 in the youth room in Lower Witherspoon.
