Tony Gonzalez Says He'll Help Travis Kelce Pay Fine for Celebration After TD Record

Kansas City Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez is a man of his word.

Back in November, the Hall of Famer said he wanted Chiefs star Travis Kelce to emulate his signature celebration and dunk the ball through the uprights when Kelce broke the franchise record for touchdown receptions. Gonzalez even added that he'd cover the ensuing fine since the celebration is banned by the NFL.

Well, Kelce did just that in Kansas City's 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.

After the game, the nine-time Pro Bowler checked in to see whether Gonzalez would honor his pledge and got an affirmative response:

Gonzalez, who played basketball for three seasons in college at California, became synonymous with the touchdown dunk. The NFL, however, outlawed the celebration ahead of the 2014 season.

The decision came after former New Orleans Saints star Jimmy Graham went for a two-handed jam after a touchdown and yanked hard enough on the goalpost to throw it off-center in 2013.

Kelce was thankfully much less forceful when he did his best to mimic Gonzalez against the Steelers.
