BARREN COUNTY, Ky. - One local EMS responder is being recognized for true professionalism and quick thinking.

Amber Farley, a skilled paramedic with the Barren-Metcalfe EMS, was able to quickly detect a lethal cardiac rhythm and immediately perform early defibrillation, giving the patient the best possible chance for survival, according to the agency.

They say this is the kind of work that often goes unseen but it makes all the difference.

Farley's ability to stay calm, act swiftly and utilize critical skills helped save a life.
