With a playoff berth already clinched, head coach and general manager Richard Santos wants the Maroons to ramp up their intensity during the final nine games of the regular season.

"We've got to put our foot down even harder now and clean up the small things and get ready for playoffs," he said.

The Maroons punched their post-season ticket Friday with a 5-3 win over the St. Thomas Stars in front of 753 at the Joe Thornton community centre.

The Maroons (27-9-4-1) are tied for second place with the Stratford Warriors in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Western Conference. They're 12 points behind the St. Marys Lincolns.

The Listowel Cyclones and London Nationals are tied for fourth, two points behind the Maroons and Warriors.
