North Platte Community College women's sports, golf teams to compete in NJCAA Division I

North Platte Community College's women's athletics teams and golf teams will compete in NJCAA Division I starting in 2025.

The NPCC men's basketball team already competes at that level. MPCC's McCook Community College teams were also already classified as DI.

This decision elevates golf, women's basketball, softball and volleyball from DII to DI beginning in fall of 2025.

Purdy said during the MPCC Board of Governor's meeting Wednesday that DII sports in Region IX "is kind of dissolving," which spurred the decision.

He added that each athletic team would be allowed three to five "full-ride equivalencies" with the possibility to raise that number for recruitment numbers and walk-ons.
