Earlier this week, the state announced that the feds are going to fund $17 million in a grant to support pregnant women, new moms, and infants in this state. Considering all the news over the last year about how bad off new mothers are in Arkansas, and how the state is failing them, this is finally some good news in that regard, yes?
According to the release, specific uses for the grant will go toward analyzing data to target maternal health services, educating providers and pregnant women on doulas, community health workers and midwives, and investing in and building better technology infrastructure to collect and share data tied to maternal health.
"Healthy moms means healthy babies," Gov. Sarah Sanders said.
