My Hero Academia gets its long-awaited Vigilantes anime spinoff, revealing the official first trailer, key visual and April 2025 release window, plus a major new look at the upcoming My Hero Academia Season 8.
Via a press release, the My Hero Academia spinoff My Hero Academia: Vigilantes by Hideyuki Furuhashi (story) and Betten Court (art) will receive an anime adaptation by Studio Bones, set to premiere in April 2025. Additionally, My Hero Academia's Season 8 -- the final season of the series -- will premiere in the fall of 2025. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will be directed by serial JoJo's Bizarre Adventure director Kenichi Suzuki, and is joined by Yosuke Kuroda for the series composition. Kuroda did the series composition for all seasons of the My Hero Academia anime. Takahiko Yoshida (Cells at Work!) is credited for character design and is joined by SSSS.Gridman art director Yukihiro Watanabe and The Faraway Paladin color designer Haruko Nobori. The Case Study of Vanitas director of photography Yingying Zhang and 3DCG director Mizuki Sasaki reunite for the series, working in those respective roles on MHA. Kiyoshi Hirose (Dandadan) joins as an editor, the legendary Yuki Hayashi (MHA), Shogo Yamashiro and Yuki Furuhashi (Ringing Fate donghua) join as music composers, and Masafumi Mima (MHA, Attack on Titan) returns as sound director.
My Hero Academia had been previously announced to air again in 2025. Now, fans can get official confirmation that the franchise will air back-to-back seasons in the Spring and Fall 2025 seasons, exploring the series' universe from different angles. The news also follows the positive reception of My Hero Academia: You're Next. Vigilantes is set in a superpowered society where trained and licensed heroes protect the public from supervillains, taking place five years before the events of My Hero Academia. The series follows Koichi Haimawari, a young man who uses his abilities to aid others, despite not being a licensed hero.
