PORTLAND, Ore. -- A suspect has been arrested around six months after a fatal assault in Portland.
On Thursday, Portland police detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Service found and arrested Major L. Hudson Jr. The 42-year-old was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on several charges, including second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.
The arrest is linked to a deadly assault that happened earlier this year. On June 12, officers found a 51-year-old man, O'Marr Burnett, badly injured on Northwest Everett Street near 19th Avenue. Though he was transported to a local hospital, he died two days later from his injuries, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Burnett's cause of death was determined to be homicidal violence by the medical examiner. No arrests were made at the time.
Burnett's family has been notified of Hudson's arrest in the case, PPB said.
