Syracuse, N.Y. -- Firefighters quickly contained a fire in a two-story Syracuse home Saturday night.
Firefighters were called to the home at 615 N. McBride St. around 9:46 after reports of the house being on fire.
When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from the home's second floor window, said Deputy Chief Matthew Craner, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department.
They quickly stretched water hoses into the two-story home and started to extinguish the fire, he said. Firefighters did search the home but everyone inside was able to evacuate before firefighters arrived, he said.
Fire crews were able to contain most of the fire to the second floor and protect the first floor from any further damage, Craner said.
There was heavy fire damage to the second floor and smoke and water damage throughout the home.
Four people were reported to live in the home, and they were being assisted by the American Red Cross, he said.
