Notably, the user had booked a Priority Sedan to Anand Vihar Terminal and texted the driver before putting their phone away to grab their luggage. As the driver approached, the user checked the Uber chat for the OTP, only to find a disturbing message from the driver.
In the Reddit post, the user shared that the driver assigned to their ride was Chandan, driving a Maruti Suzuki Dzire. After receiving the unsettling message, the user described feeling a wave of panic as the driver was just seconds away.
"I don't know what impulse kicked in -- 4 a.m., barely any sleep, and panic after reading a text from a guy who was literally a few seconds in front of me -- but I decided to cancel the ride. As soon as I began canceling, he canceled first, and I ran back into the house with my luggage. I managed to take a screenshot just before it was canceled," the user explained. In response to the post, many suggested that the disturbing message could have been a mistranslation. However, the woman clarified, "I checked over 8 native language queries to English, and nothing translates to 'kidnap' except the word 'apaharan'."
