HII to Revamp Pentagon's Communication Networks

HII has accepted a $458-million contract to upgrade the US Department of Defense's communications and information technology (IT) networks.

For the initiative, the company will "develop, assess, and implement" capabilities to boost the security of covered networks against cyber threats.

HII will also introduce new solutions and support cloud migration for users across the US defense agency as well as the US Special Operations Command.

The firm will apply a model-based systems engineering procedure for associated hardware prototyping, ad-hoc network aerial relay products, waveform development, payloads, and deployable communication kits throughout the project.

HII's Mission Technologies subsidiary will lead tasks for the contract over five years.

"We are honored by the customer's trust in HII and our approach," HII Executive VP and Mission Technologies President Andy Green stated.

"As we advance their IT transformation goals, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge expertise and solutions that will have a direct, positive impact on our front-line warfighters."

HII won a support contract in March to assist US intelligence operations in South Korea.

In November 2023, the company accepted a similar contract to modernize information-sharing capabilities between the US and the Five Eyes alliance members.
