DONATE: Sinclair Inc. and The Salvation Army raise $200,000 in Helene relief effort

Hurricane Helene is the deadliest storm on U.S. soil since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast in 2005. That's why Maryland company Sinclair Inc. (owner and operator of this TV station) has partnered with The Salvation Army to raise money for relief efforts.

Asheville, N.C. has seen mass devastation from the storm, leaving thousands without homes and hundreds of thousands without power in Western, N.C.

The death toll could also be rising because there are believed to be dozens of people missing since the rising waters came through communities in the storm's path, officials said.

Further, more than 200,000 people are still without power across Western North Carolina, according to the power company in the area, Duke Energy.

Your donation will help The Salvation Army continue to provide meals, clean water and much needed assistance to residents and first responders on the ground. In addition, Sinclair will provide a corporate donation up to $50,000 for the first $50,000 raised through www.sinclaircares.com.

This is the third major campaign Sinclair Inc. has initiated in the past year for those in need. Over the summer, Sinclair partnered with RIF to promote the end to children's illiteracy. And almost a year ago, Sinclair partnered with the Red Cross to help with their efforts providing humanitarian relief and emergency medical services in Israel. Financial donations supported the delivery of emergency medical aid, ambulances and blood bank services on the ground for all people in Israel.
