"90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days" star Veah Netherton is opening up about the mysterious illness that caused her recent dramatic weight loss.
The Florida resident took to Instagram earlier this week to share a health update alongside a mirror selfie. She acknowledged that she'd gotten "a lot of questions" about her thin frame amid season 7 of "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days," which premiered in September 2024.
Some "90 Day Fiancé: B90'' viewers have speculated that Netherton contracted an illness while visiting her now-fiancé Sunny Madhi in South Africa, but Netherton shared that her health issues began before the trip abroad.
"Before [South Africa],I was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was severely affecting my life. After processing that for a couple months & coming home from [South Africa], I decided I wanted to try some natural ways to see if my body would get rid of the tumor or shrink it," she explained.
Netherton underwent lymphatic draining treatments at the recommendation of a "licensed health coach," but soon began experiencing unpleasant side effects including shortness of breath.
"[I] didn't connect the dots that the [lymph] node drainage was doing this. I only saw [the health coach] a couple more times and that's when it really all changed," the reality star wrote. "All of a sudden, I could no longer swallow anything including my own spit, I was spitting up blood, and within a few days, I could no longer walk."
Netherton revealed that her symptoms led to several hospitalizations. She's consulted with several specialists, but has yet to figure out what's wrong or how to get better.
"I have given up on doctors because of all this and have relied on the power of prayer and I have seen healing through it," she wrote. "No doctor/specialist seem to know how to help me or my situation."
Due to her difficulty with swallowing, Netherton shared that she has not "been able to eat any food for about 6 months" and is surviving off Ensure protein products.
Throughout her season of "90 Day Fiancé: B90," Netherton noticeably lost a significant amount of weight. Fans have been theorizing online for months about the reasons for the sudden change, guessing everything from illness to Ozempic to an eating disorder.
In October 2024, Netherton revealed via her Instagram Story that she weighed 90 pounds.
"[It] got to the point where I became bedridden [and it] hurt to swallow," she captioned a mirror selfie at the time. "I started to loose [sic] a lot of weight and now I'm 90 pounds and am still trying to figure it out."
Due to her ongoing health issues, Netherton was not able to attend the "90 Day Fiancé: B90'' season 7 tell-all in person. During the part 1 premiere on Sunday, Jan. 12, she joined virtually and confirmed that she'd lost about 50 pounds since getting sick.
There are three episodes left of the season 7 tell-all. Viewers are eager to hear where Netherton and Mahdi stand. The duo got off to a rocky start when Netherton brought her ex-boyfriend along to visit Mahdi in South Africa, but they came to an understanding.
Further complicating matters, Madhi's dad doesn't approve of the pair's engagement because Mahdi is Muslim and Netherton is Christian.
Mahdi is still in South Africa while Netherton lives in the United States, and it's unclear whether Mahdi was approved for the K-1 visa that would allow him to travel to the U.S. and marry Netherton.
