At Hanover Area, Cassidy McDermott had 24 service points, 13 aces and 11 kills to help MMI Prep pick up its first WVC win of the season, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12.
Alexia Fazio had 19 service points, five aces and seven kills for MMI Prep while Chloe Allen had 18 service points, six aces and six kills.
Amelia MacLunny had 15 service points, seven aces and five kills. Amanda MacLunny had seven assists, one block and four digs. Aliyah Samkough had four kills, seven service points and four aces.
Crestwood 3, Lake-Lehman 1
Crestwood won the final two sets to earn the victory (25-8, 16-25, 25-17 and 25-22) over host Lake-Lehman in a Wyoming Valley Conference match.
Sydney Beddingfield led the Comets with 16 kills, 14 points, seven aces and seven digs, while teammate Kady Schreiner had 36 assists, 14 points and six digs. Claire Savner added six blocks and three kills in the win.
For Lake-Lehman, Ella Wilson had 18 kills, nine points and three aces, and teammate Giolla Biscotto added 10 points and 15 assists.
Weatherly 3, Lincoln Leadership 1
The visiting Lady Wreckers rallied past Lincoln Leadership Academy in a non-league match after dropping the first game (10-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-14).
Rachel Rosenlund (18), Kelly Reiner (16) and Abby Binder (seven) teamed for 41 service points for Weatherly. Rosenlund added 10 aces, two kills and 14 assists to her final stat line. Reiner finished with five aces, four kills, four digs and one assist and Binder contributed two aces, three kills and two digs.
Tamaqua 3, Shenandoah Valley 0
The Lady Raiders breezed to victory in their non-league match, 25-7, 25-22 and 25-15.
Kelsey Lusch served nine aces to lead Tamaqua. Isidora Neifert added six aces and four kills and Madison Schock had 11 assists.
Alyse Wanchisen scored twice to lead Crestwood to a win over host Abington Heights in Wyoming Valley Conference Division I.
Ally George, Stella Janosczyk, Ava McConnell and Haley Keiser also added goals for Crestwood, which had 32 shots on goal.
Abington Heights' Lucy Gonzalez stopped 26 shots.

H.S. Water Polo
Hazleton Area's water polo teams competed in the annual Beast of East Tournament over the weekend at Wilson West Lawn.
In the Lady Cougars'10-0 loss to Cumberland Valley on Friday, Mariannyi Brache Minaya had four steals and Emilia Alcantara added three steals for the locals. Teammates Ashley Malaga and Monserrat Garcia each scored a goal for the Lady Cougars' 11-2 setback to Worthington Kilbourne. Brookelynn Keelers finished with three saves in goal and Alcantara chipped in another steal.
Satruday, Brache Minaya netted two goals and had three steals and a block in a 12-4 loss to North Penn B. Geisha Romero contributed a goal and an assist; Malaga had a goal and a block; Alcantara added six steals and two assists; Garcia had a steal and an assist; and Keeler made one steal.
The Lady Cougars ended the tournament with a 14-5 loss to Lower Merion. Brache Minaya had two goals and five steals and Garcia scored two goals and had one steal to lead the way. Malaga contributed an assist and a steal; and Lizbeth Abreu Vargas and Aliza Koester helped with an assist, steal and block apiece.
The Cougars' boys' team lost close games to both Upper Perkiomen (9-5) and Wilson B (12-8) on Saturday. Nicholas Pop and Chase Kaschak scored five and four goals, respectively, over the two games. Cody Scholl added two goals and Justin Germosen and Cason Machey each chipped in one score.
Friday, the Hazleton Area boys lost to Gonzaga, 12-2. Kaschak and Pop accounted for the Cougars' goals. Later that evening, the locals fell to Malvern Prep, 14-4. Scholl highlighted the Cougars' effort with two goals and three steals. Kaschak finished with one goal and one steal; Isaiah Martinez netted a goal; Pop contributed an assist and two steals; Machey had an assist and a steal; and Patrick Soden and Alexis Sanchez Garcia both chipped in a steal.
