I don't believe that the recent presidential election results reflected a mandate from the American electorate. But if you follow social media, the word "trending" gets used a lot. It's a way of describing what's hot and what's not. Currently, identity politics, DEI, open borders and support for transgender athletes competing in women sports are not trending well. These initiatives are ardently embraced by the Democratic Party. Some Democrats have stated that their poor results in the recent national elections were due to poor messaging, particularly to the working class. In other words, the policies are OK, but they need to be marketed better to a certain voting class. Paying Hollywood elites to do their bidding wasn't effective. I admire talented Hollywood actors and other successful celebrities, but I have no interest in their political beliefs. I suspect millions of Americans concur with me on this point.
Not trending well for Democrats is their position on immigration. Despite the biased news media often portraying a distressed Statue of Liberty in their political cartoons, millions of uninvited guests pouring through our southern border is not sitting well with most Americans. The mythical Democrat sanctuary states and cities are going to be dealt with by the feds in due time. America once had a functioning immigration program. It was set up in the form of a value exchange. Not as an open door to all of the discontented peoples around the world. It's not an overstatement to say that a billion people want to migrate to the U.S. today. If they were all able to pull it off, why would this be good for America?

Illinois citizens will be realizing soon what the old adage "Time to pay the piper" means. Democrats' sanctuary states and other boondoggles are coming home to roost.
