Shawn Spears has nothing but good things to say about his time in AEW.
Shawn Spears competed in AEW during the promotion's formative years and was briefly a main eventer due to his association with MJF and his rivalry with Cody Rhodes. Now, Spears is back in WWE as part of the NXT brand, but he has taken a lot of the presentation he had in AEW with him.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Spears praised his time in All Elite Wrestling and said you would never see him badmouth Tony Khan.
"It just came down to a personal want in terms of wanting to contribute a little bit more, both in front of the camera and behind the camera. I had a wonderful time in AEW. I have and have had a great relationship with Tony Khan. You're never going to hear me say anything bad about that guy. Same thing with a lot of EVPs, talent, everything. I had a wonderful time. I got to learn a lot about myself as a businessman and a lot more of what not to do. More so of, it's okay to put your foot down and have faith in what you're worth and your ability. It was a really good learning process in terms of being an individual at a different company, but my time there was special. Getting to work with all the top guys based on my storyline with Max, FTR, and things like that. A lot of things I would have never gotten to do in my career, I was very fortunate enough to do there."
Elsewhere in the interview, Spears opens up about his responsibilities behind the scenes in NXT.
