Apartment fire in East Westwood displaces 3, injures 2 civilians

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -A large fire occurred at an apartment complex in East Westwood Sunday morning, displacing three people and injuring two others, according to District Fire Chief Craig Coburn.

Coburn says they were called around 5:25 a.m. to the 1900 block of Westwood Northern Blvd. after receiving multiple calls about the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the blaze on the third floor of a three-story residential building.

Coburn states that firefighters launched an aggressive attack in their search for victims; however, it was later revealed that the tenants had evacuated on their own before the firefighters arrived.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, and no victims were found inside the house, according to Coburn. The remaining tenants were assisted to safety or sheltered in place.

Coburn reports that the Red Cross is providing support to an adult and two minors displaced by the fire. He adds that the two injured individuals were civilians but did not specify the extent of their injuries or what led to those injuries.

The estimated damage is $20,000
